Just a little blog update...

Yesterday we went to Matt's company Christmas party at a bowling alley. Levi got to bowl for his first time, and he loved it! Bruce had fun too because he loves to bowl! Santa was there and they both sat on his lap. It was Levi's first Santa picture and he was petrified of him.... They got presents from Santa and candy canes. They also had cookies, chocolate chip muffins, cake and pizza! We don't eat junk type food a lot, so they were a bit hyper, but they had a lot of fun! Matt and I did also.

This past weekend was busy! Bruce is done with school until January 3 and Matt is done with work until January 2 now, so we were getting some last minute things done! We tried out a different walmart, one that is further away, but a lot more clean and a lot more safe. We will be going back there whenever we need walmart things again!

Christmas is so close now, and we are all ready!!! The boys are going to have such a great time and we will have a great time watching them! God bless you all and Merry Christmas!

What a rare thing!

We have learned a lot about the weather here since this last year. One thing, it rains, but hardly ever storms here (rain with no thunder and lightening almost always). Another thing is that from about May until October it is so hot outside that unless you are swimming you do not want to be out there! Also, it doesn't get too cold until January/February and will barely ever snow here, but usually only a few inches in those 2 months...

Well, we have been proven wrong! For the first time in a while Fayetteville, NC got snow in December! The first time was around the 4, a few flakes (we didn't see any, but we weren't home that day) last week there was snow on the ground in the morning, but barely even reconizable! And then yesterday we woke up and there was a little more snow (still not very much) and some reports of ice, and then school ended up cancelled! They didn't want people on the ice if it wasn't needed.

But we are hoping that we won't get any snow this coming week though, since we will be busy and are expecting Poppi and Lolli to get here at the end of next week...

God Bless you all and Merry Christmas!

Looking back on 2010!

As I am sitting here today with 2 weeks left of this entire year, I am thinking about how great this year has been. It started off with a hard thing to endure at the time, but it got so much better from there! Here is a reflection of this past year from the 4 of us!

January started out the very first day with Matt getting called in to do a last minute staff duty (24 hours) after he had just done it the day before. Then an earthquake hit Haiti and Matt and the whole 2BCT were on GRF (global relief) and had to leave. Matt was part of the first group that left, on the 14th. We had 12 hours of notice and then 8 days later we finally got to talk to him. Bruce then turned 5 on the 27th and Poppi and Lolli flew here for a visit on the 28th. January was a full month, filled with trips to the musuem and playing a lot, but it was fun and hard.

February started out good, and ended great! We got to see our first real snow here (in January it iced over mainly once) and we sent our first care package overseas. Levi turned 1on the 10th and we went to Monkey Joes to play and McDonald's (to play in the indoor playset) a few times. This month ended with Matt getting to come home on the 26th after 6 weeks of being in Haiti.

March started out with my 24th birthday on the 4th and getting flowers sent to me from Matt and the boys. We went to the musuem and monkey joes, along with other fun places this month since Matt missed out the 6 weeks he was gone. We got to see Matt jump out of an airplane finally and he did that a few times this month!

April brought Easter and then our first family trip to the Ocean! We drove for 3 hours and went to the Aquariam. We stayed at a hotel on the beach, with a view of the Atlantic ocean from the deck! I got to eat lobster tail for the first time and we spent one whole day on the beach. It was a little bit chilly, but it was fun! Levi didn't like the water, but Bruce loved it! We also made a sand castle and buried the boys in the sand!

In May Matt finished jumpmaster school and became an officieal jumpmaster! We also celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary by going out to eat without the boys! This month started to get pretty hot outside, so we started going to the swimming pool with our pool pass, and the boys both became fish!

June brought more swimming and more outdoor fun. Levi was finally getting big enough to climb on all of the equipment at the park and actually play there! At the end of this month, the 22nd, Matt turned 27! This month mainly just brought heat and outdoor things.

July was a really fun month! We made the decision to drive to Iowa for the 4th. We left our house one day at 11am and arrived the next evening at 5:00pm. Our 22 hour drive turned out to be 31 hours instead! We had delays and had to stay at rest stops, but we made it there in one piece! We were glad to see everybody there and to have much cooler weather, like the 70's when we had been having highs in the upper 90's! We did a lot of fun things in IA! On the last few days there we decided to make a last minute stop in MO to see everybody there. We stayed there for 2 days and then  made the journey back home! This was a busy and fun month!

August was a different kind of month for us! We had to go school clothes shopping and supply shopping because Bruce started kindergarten this month! We started the very last few days of the month, and he loved it immediately! Levi took a few days to adjust having daddy and bubba gone everyday, but he eventually started loving it!

September we went to a national park here and went hiking and had a picnic with our friends! Bruce had his first school activity that we attended. This month we spent a lot of time outside because it was finally starting to be in the 80's and cool enough to go outside! We also spent our weekend watching football and we realized that we have 2 football fans! Nana and Papa came to visit this month, and we went shopping for Christmas and had a good time.

In October it started to cool off finally and Matt started playing flag football. We went and watched him on the nights that he had earlier games and the boys really had a lot of fun cheering dad on! We went to a pumpkin patch this month and did a maze and bought 3 pumpkins! We carved our pumpkins and Levi did not like that one bit! Bruce enjoyed it though! The boys dressed up for Halloween as Yoda and Darth Vadar and we went to a trunk-or-treat, trick-or-treating and a halloween carnival at the youth center!

November was spent planning for Thanksgiving and more Christmas shopping. It was getting a lot colder this month, and Matt spent a lot of time in the field. We stayed in a lot and watched movies this month. We had Thanksgiving dinner here and I cooked for the boys and 2 of Matt's guys that he is over. We watched football and ate our dinner, which I was told tasted very good! The day after we didn't go shopping, but we decorated our house for Christmas!

December has been a full month already, a Chirstmas party, Bible shopping and finishing the last few presents for shopping. Matt has spent every week in the field this month, but after Friday he is done for the year! And next week is Christmas and Poppi and Lolli will make their second trip here!

It has been a wonderful and full year for us! A lot of great things, and a few not so great things that we have over came! Life is amazing and God is so great and has blessed us in so many ways. I hope that 2011 can be just as great, although it may be full with even more challenges.

God Bless everybody and Thank you for taking the time to read this! I hope that your year has been just as great as ours!

Weekends (and a little ramble)!

One thing that I really like a lot better with the regular Army v. USAREC (recruiting) is that we are almost always guranteed the weekends free when Matt isn't deployed. Of course there are times when he has staff duty, or when somebody gets into trouble and he has to get called in, but those don't happen too often and we are usually free to have the entire weekend for family time! Friday nights are our movie nights (unless the boy's are just too tired) and this past friday we watched "How to Train a Dragon" and the kid's really enjoyed it. Saturday's we usually eat breakfast and then head out to go shopping, or just look around at stores or what not. And then Sunday's we go to church. We finally found a church that we like going to here, and they are very friendly and it is over all a good experience each week, which is really good since the other ones weren't what we were looking for. And a lot of times on the weekends we like to get together with friends, which is so fun to do! The boy's really enjoy being here, and we do too. Living in North Carolina is defiently a good experience, because it is completely different then where I grew up.

Have a great rest of the weekend and God Bless!

December is here!

December is here and it came with a brrr! It is so cold here now, and we are not used to it anymore! Especially not used to walking to the bus stop and freezing! This month has already been a good one, and it will continue to be good and busy! Matt was in the field all last week and then Saturday we went to an ornament exchange Christmas party. Matt starts his Christmas leave the end of next week, and then it is the Christmas party for Matt's work. And then it will be Christmas... I still hope that it will go by more slowly though...

Bruce gets his second report card this week. We are hoping that this one makes more sense to us then the first one did. He is getting so much older, I mean the way he acts. He needs our help less and less now. He wanted their room the way he wanted, he doesn't want me to pick out his clothes anymore (although Levi is already starting that too, lol), he wants to open up his own things and he knows what he wants.

Levi is getting big also; physically and otherwise. He knows how to open our laptops, turn them on, use the mouse and click on things! We can't leave him out of our sight for more than half a second or he is online, turning on all of the game systems, rearranging our living room, using our phones, brushing his teeth (with Bruce's toothbrush (and you don't want to know what he used to get it wet)), opening the front door or many other things! I can't believe that he is almost 2, and he is finally adding a lot more words to his vocabulary now also.

Matt is doing well, and I am also. I have an appointment on Wednesday to see the doctor and check up on me, so hopefully that will go well. Matt will be out in the cold all week, and I can feel for him. The Christmas presents are all wrapped and are all under the tree now. I plan to make a trip to the store next week with Levi and we are going to pick up some things for Toys for Tots, because I love to give to those who are less fortunate this time of the year.

God Bless everyone and be safe this holiday season... Pictures to come soon.
