I am almost 25, and I grew up and stayed in Carl Junction/Joplin MO until a little over a year ago, so I was pretty consistent with my friends for the most part. But I did have some really good "best" friends throughout the years!
My very first best friend was my best friend until we graduated HS. She was my neighbor and we looked like sisters at one point, and we called each others mother's "mom" and we both had step-dads with the same name! Her name was Leslie! I was the maid of honor in her wedding and she was the one person with me to help me pick out my wedding dress! We sitll keep in touch some, but not nearly as often as when we were kids.
My other best friends from school were pretty great too! Another girl named Leslie (both Leslie's moms had the same name and they were both "blondes" and I had to explain everything to them in their own way and I called it "Leslie Language"!) She was in girl scouts with me, and although we lost touch in middle school and jr. high we became friends again in HS and got really close again. She used to drive everywhere since I didn't have my licencse and she almost got us killed or ticketed a lot! We went to church youth groups together, the YMCA, McDonalds for the fries and McFlurries and just driving around and finding adventure!
Then there was Lindsay! She was always there for me in school and we even made up some of our own words. We loved taking photography class together and we found lots of photo projects to get our hands on at school. We went to Sr. prom together (with our dates), went to football games together and wrote each other silly notes all of the time. The funny thing is, although I still talk to all 3 of the above mentioned, and we aren't as close anymore, 2 of the 3 are now Army wives also!
After school I met another friend and she and I quickly became great friends. I met her when we both worked at subway and we had kids around the same age. We were co-workers and roommates and we both have had a lot of adult experiences together. She was with me the night of the first date I had with my husband and she was the first person to know that I was getting married. Our oldest son still calls her daughter his girlfriend and we talk a lot still!
Now onto my "best" best friend; my husband Matt. He has been here for me ever since we met in 2006 and he has never let me down. Out of all of my best friends, he is trully the one that has been the best! We have had so many good times, and a few that weren't so good. We have many inside jokes, memories, first things together and many fun times! He is a great father and husband and he is trully amazing! Without him, life would not be the same!
